There are many reasons why this fundraiser has been organized. To provide on going support for those in need of care at Mount Sinai. Here are some comments from those people who have been touched by the generousity of the Physician Campaign at Mount Sinai Hopsital.
Growing up in a family of health care professionals I saw that there was a lot of good that can be done in the field of medicine. In 2007 I had to have two chest tubes inserted in me in order to correct a health issue I was having. Already having an aversive feeling towards hospitals, I was petrified! The physicians at Mount Sinai alleviated my anxiety and made the experience bearable. I was so touched and moved by thier compassion I felt compelled to give something back to these wonderful life savers!
By utilizing my creative talents in arts and media, I put my talents to good use and found myself in the centre of the Mount Sinai Fashion Fundraiser. I will always be indebited to the wonderful doctors at Mount Sinai.

My vacation was cut short due to a health issue that I had. The doctors of the Florida ER suggested that I’d be moved directly to the Mount Sinai Hospital as they had heard only the best. But being from the East Coast of Canada it was still far away from home for me and I was hesitant at first. Now I know, why they had heard of this hospital even as far south as Florida. Marie
My first contact with the Mount Sinai was when I visited a friends from Church here. The only reason I did dare visit was because due to childhood experiences I have a serious aversion against hospitals and because of my aversion I though: “If I hated hospitals that much, then I am sure my friend would appreciate, if I visit her and she did. But she also gave me advice that would come in handy twenty years later: “If you ever have something serious go to the Mount Sinai Hospital, they will help you!” I did and they helped me when no one else would, just as promised.

It was not the first time that I had left my specialist office who assured me that I was perfectly fine when I had to be admitted again through the MSH ER. The their staff is exceptional and they take such good care of you, that makes your worries go away.

Having been here now for months, it is difficult to enjoy anything, the room doesn’t change, the food is okay but when you have seen the twenty fifth rotation of it what is there to look forward to? The pleasant staff and their volunteers.

Sure there are areas of improvement, but if I am given a choice, I know exactly which hospital I choose, if I am given the choice.

It never ceases to amaze me how one hospital can be so different from one another although they are so close together and their eloquent and high end Marketing slogans promise you the exact same thing: “State of the art technolgy, expertise and most importantly compassion”.

The Mount Sinai Hospital is a place of importance to me. My first encounter was my own birth at the old Mount Sinai. After that, I had family members who had been cared for by the wonderful staff throughout the years. Eventually, I was hired to work through an agency in the Cardiology Department and met so many wonderful and interesting people including staff and patients. There were two other momentus events that occurred at Mount Sinai. The birth of my twin boys where the care was excellent. The other was the time my dad’s life was saved. He was going in for a routine procedure and was allergic to the dye. He died on the table but the physican brought him back to life with his quick reponse. Mount Sinai still is a hospital of choice in my family when the need is there. Thank you to the staff who are all dedicated to the care of the patient.

Due to a chronic illness from early childhood, I have spent a tremendous amount of time in the care of health care professionals and facilities always depending on others assistance and kindness. This is not easy when you thrive off of your independence. Some my experiences I have tried to delete permanently from my memory. Hence when I became seriously ill in 2008 I was forced by family and friends to go to a hospital. I was brought to the Mount Sinai ER. I don’t know what it was, but instantly I felt this place was different. The following 2 months that I spent there proved that my intuition was correct and with each passing day I lost more and more of my anxiety and fears. All of the nurses were most wonderful but the extend to which some of them went to, to cheer me up when I was down is just unbelievable. Besides taking personal interest in my wellbeing they thought of little gestures and entertainment to make my stay as pleasant as possible. But I have found not only the medical staff to be exceptional their volunteers are just as dedicated and compassionate and take amazing care where and whenever they can. One time I found myself all by myself in my room while no new patients were admited. To pass the time one of the volunteers kept me company on several occasions until 2 am even though work was waiting 7 am sharp. If the Mount Sinai was a hotel, I would rate them AAA plus plus plus.

I became apart of the team for this fashion fundraiser because of 3 main reasons: wanting to be involved with a worthwhile cause, my love for fashion and the challenge of starting up something new. I believe that helping others comes in all shapes and forms. Hospitals are facilities that will always need donations and support from their community. That's why when I heard about the opportunity I jumped at the chance to be involved with a fundraiser that brings hope to the future. I am excited to work with the team and organize a night that will be entertaining & at the same time beneficial to the community!
